Little Red Riding Hood

Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house she goes. Red Riding Hood, not so little anymore, and her pre-teen pals try to stay on the straight and narrow in the latest adventure from the Missoula Children’s Theatre, RED RIDING HOOD. The Big Bad Wolf, who is not so bad after all, and a friendly neighborhood Forest Ranger urge our heroes to stay true to the path, for in the Shadows lurk diversions and a sinister surprise or two. A pack of woefully nasty young wolves and a handsome Woodsman, too good to be true, are a must for our story. And we can’t have a wolf tale without Three Little Pigs and even a Boy Who Cries…you guessed it. With help from her family and a loyal young Locksmith (he carries the key), Red finds her Grandma and a whole lot more. Now if only she could retrieve her picnic basket from those rascally Raccoons. Life is no picnic when you stray from the trail!

No advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts at an audition. Students should come and be ready to have a good time! Please remember that everyone must stay the entire two hours of the audition.

During the audition, as many as four Assistant Directors (ADs), ages ten and older, may be selected to help teach and direct the show early in the week as well as take on technical responsibilities at performance time. Their logistical help and creative ideas are a vital part of our process and the experience of the ADs can be just as valuable as that of any cast member. They are normally older students who do take part in the audition session. It is a common misconception that junior high and high school students can only be involved in an AD capacity. Please note that there are roles in the show designed for older students as well.

Approximately 50-60 students will be cast in the show. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast.

Selected lead parts will stay be expected to stay after auditions for a practice that will last until 9:00 pm.  All other cast members are free to leave at 6:30 pm.

Rehearsals start Tuesday, Sept. 29th  from 4:30 to 9:00 pm, with a half hour break for dinner at 6:30. All cast members should be dropped off at the Crighton Theatre entrance on Simonton.  Auditions run from Tuesday (Sept 29th) thru Friday (Oct 2nd). Cast members are expected to be at every practice.

Dress rehearsal is Saturday, Oct. 3rd at 3:00 pm. The show starts at 7:00 pm and runs for about an hour with no intermission.
